Last night, J.Crew held a presentation for its Fall/Winter 2011 collection at Industria Superstudio in New York City. Sharp, tailored and focused, the range consisted of some very classic silhouettes with clean, simple lines. Slim suits, jackets and sportcoats with double-button closures and narrow lapels gave a more modern feel, while a traditional element was still apparent in pieces like a ribbed shawl collar cardigan or layered quilted jackets. Equally as impressive as the clothes themselves was the way the collection was styled. With pant cuffs rolled up ever so slightly and ascots tucked neatly into button down shirts, the reinvention of the J.Crew man couldn’t have looked more effortless if they had tried.
