A few days ago we highlighted the Milan office’s of MoleSkine’s Italian division. On the heels of that look into the Milanese office, MoleSkine New York just recently laid claim to a new office. Situated alongside fellow creative entities in the Chelsea area, the MoleSkine New York office also presented The Hand of the Designer, a project that involved 150 different designers who each documented their creative process.

props to them for gettin that dough but i dont see why anyone would buy one of their notebooks for a higher price than regular notebooks.

moleskin may be overpriced, but the thing is that they definitely have a product suiting your needs, and you’ll always know that and where you can get it.

Please justify the costs of such items. To believe that you must possess a certain brand of notebook in order to create is absurd. A parallel example is how the NFL is starting to recruit out of Samoa where the low income high school football teams use outdated helmets and gear as well as old gym equipment. Yet most of these athletes are as good [if not better] than their American counterparts who can splurge for trainers and high-tech gyms.

They are overpriced. Obviously. But, why does Coke cost more than own-label cola? Why does a Louis Vuitton bagcost more than a no-label one? It’s simple. Moleskine has a heritage that is used to shape their BRAND. Sure they may be a little better made than other notebooks, but like can of drink or a bag their instrisic function is not enhanced but it having a brand; but the perception and value iof the item in the eye of the user is. People buy Molesking because of the brand, Moleskine charge them more because they can. Simples.

yeah. always made me wonder how they managed to get away with charging so much for a notebook, but i guess the alternatives of similar quality just aren’t there.
