tank chair pharrell williams The Tank Chair by Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams brings forth the latest installment of his Perspective series in the shape of The Tank Chair. Slated for a world premiere at the Emmanuel Perriton Gallery during Art Basel Miami Skateboard P’s latest venture in contemporary furniture comes along in four colorways and is made of plexiglas and full grain colt leather. After taking inspiration from the love between a man and a woman for the first Perspective chair one can only assume the influence behind this creative piece.

Im fine with P, his music, clothing and stuff. but i gotta admit as an industrial designer, his idea is original, this piece is more likely a piece of art instead of a furniture, if he labeled it for $20k or something, it’s worth of the ideas. even i wont be able to buy it tho.

I called and the blue, white and black are $20K a piece, gallery marks it up about 50% which equals rip-off

I like the legs of the chair but the seat itself? noooo looks like crap!

drop the chair lower with a floating foot rest and let this bitch actually roll and id buy it haha jk. I think the biggest mistake here is not making it design relevant its not enough like a tank to throw it off with some clear colors If it was flat any color and more like a tank or sick with some outta control colors. I would pay a few hundo for it but its not so i say no thanks pharrel but keep em coming im sure there is somthing dope ull figure out like all the rest of ur gear one offs.

Pharrell, go home. It never ceases to amaze me how people who become famous in one creative medium always feel the need to express themselves through another. David Hasselhoff can’t sing. Michael Jordan can’t play baseball. Design isn’t your forte, Mr. Williams. Stick to the music; it’s what got you your fame.

Not bad, but for some reason doesn’t look like a tank to me. and I barely perceive it to be aktually, and Pharrell and I are synesthetes…

What on earth is this guy smoking? And he gets paid money for creating crap like this? Amazing … a fool and his money ARE soon parted.

Kind of a clever idea and the treads look pretty cool, but the whole thing really doesn’t come together.

Creative idea… to a point… somewhat Dada in style as well, but unfortunately this and his other design pieces are not very aesthetically pleasing.

So far these have relied on a basic gimmick of abstracting the chairs foundation to provide interest, which will get pretty redundant if he continues this concept without expanding the premise of the concept and execution.

not a bad concept but its somewhat confusing..the legs are complex and the seat a little simple.looks like they don’t match eachother..nice either way tho.

nah. not a good one. way too bulky, and mixing up eames and what somehow reminds me of starck sucks big time.

i liked the first chair though.
