Michael Lavine x Thurston Moore ‘Grunge’
by Alex Milner, October 25, 2009

Photographer Michael Lavine has collaborated with author Thurston Moore (of grunge band Sonic Youth) on their book ‘Grunge’ a an illustrated tell-all account of the life and death of the Grunge movement – which emerged in late – 1980s Seattle before taking over pop culture proper for the better half of the 1990s. Moore writes about the discovery of Seattle punk youth; the seminal bands that defined the movement; the exploitation of the subculture; the backlash of grunge; as well as the death of his long-time collaborator and intimate Kurt Cobain. Meanwhile Lavine presents an accomplished series of photos which perfectly capture the movement. Grunge is now available from Amazon.
