shepard fairey michael jordan poster series Shepard Fairey x Michael Jordan Poster Series

To celebrate Michael Jordan’s official induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, iconic graffiti artist and founder of the Obey brand Shepard Fairey has created a poster of Jordan dunking. Fairey is to produce a series of similar posters, revisiting the best moments of Jordan’s career, which should make for a dazzling commemoration of arguably the greatest baller ever.

    @Clever GOODS

    Nice name. Is that the name of your new brand?

    So… the statement “we look at his stuff for the standard in vector art” clearly implies that his art is such… Vector. Which it is most certainly not. He is and has been known for being a “stencil” artist. Working by hand, not computer. If anything he utilizes a pixel based program (photoshop) to manipulate found images and turn them into hand stencils. This is essential the digital equivalent of opposite… vector vs. pixel. Thanks for your “insight” though… better luck next time.

    Dont get it twisted…I see Fairey as a genius when it comes to vector art. after all, he made it popular, but lately his art is lookin to be same old same old…he needs to be more original wit his art now that so many people are starting to mock his art…
    Like i was sayin…i have infinate respect for the guy and his art and he is def one of my favs but im thinkin its time to change somthin up…
    Step it up Mr. Fairey lol

    lol

    he wasn’t saying shepard was making vector art, he was saying before the popularity of vector art he was already using this kind of style by hand.

    fail

    @just saying

    before you bash someone, learn to READ and comprehend. Def. Cise didn’t say his work was vector, he was saying that alot of vector art is inspired by shepard fairey’s work.

    your comprehension.. FAILS!

  18. Posted by: just saying on September 9, 2009 at 11:58 am

    @ Def. Cise…

    He doesn’t make “vector” art. Your comment, FAIL.

    Wow!

    Sheperd Fairey’s work has always been remarkable.
    He took to this style before vector work had become such a big thing…
    Now we look at his stuff for the standard in vector art…

    Then his sparse use of color adds dramatic effect.
    Nothing more but A+++++
