elscorcho, if you put it that way, i’m deff with you on that, no doubt. blame the media. this new generation has no individuality. streetwear is getting more and more popular, causing people who know absolutely nothing about it or care about its depths to be able to rock it.

levi maestro is high as fuck!

and that’s a dope camera whatever it is.

@skateboardP, you can be rich and cool (c) arab parrot for example. my point is jus cuz kids are rich now they can just buy cool and get away with it, even though they are lame sheep fucks. my point is people shouldnt be cool jus cuz of their or their daddy’s bank accounts, but for other reasons. but nowadays you can just go buy cool. cool is dead and it died a long time ago.

elscorcho, how does having a rich parent make you uncool? i’m uncool because my parents worked hard to get to where they are. nahmean? i’m not rich, but i see BS like this all the time on these websites and it really baffles me. in my opinion you as well as a lot of so called “hustlers” are just mad these kids can get what you work hard for with a simple call to their parents. so y’all start bashing on them for having easy money. take a step back and look at how his parents must’ve got there.

supreme is ill and exempt from streetwear talk becuase they produce inspired garments, the hundreds is hideous and gaudy, and this bongo boy dude is obviously a nerd that doesnt even look at the people he interviews thus having no place doing wat hes doing. and lastly, cudi isnt a good rapper, and all yall just rep him cause he wears clothes you wants and does songs with ratatat who you just recently found out about but like becuase kid cudi does, YOURE ALL SQUARE SHEEPS FOR REAL

let’s be REAL here for a second on what this bongoboy kid really is…he’s a rich jew (cohen) kid from the suburbs in NJ. his dad (martin cohen) basically used to do and still does the same thing with the videos and photography and interviews except he does it with the jazz/latin/african music scene (old jew eventually got an african wife, hence bongoboy). so basically this annoying tool of a kid is using his rich dad’s money, cameras, skills, shit even website design (both of their sites are the same damn layout etc.) to do all this, doesn’t know anything about fashion or the city or the scene’s history, skating, etc. and just buys his way in cuz of his dad. which is why the person earlier said bongoboy is a perfect example of what killed streetwear in the first place.

see the reason its dead or dying is because the masses caught onto it and it then became a way to all of a sudden become “cool”. now it used to be you had to be “cool” already (whatever “cool” means anyways), be very artistic, unique and creative, be in the whole scene of skating and the streets of nyc, or just be a driven hustler to be in this scene, but now people like bongoboy can just buy their way in. now you got little ass spoiled kids with all their parent’s money that they did nothing for going up on ebay, sneaker forums, and soho and basically purchasing “cool” in the form of overpriced and limited sneakers and clothing that resellers are hawking (i’m not even going to get into how resellers are ruining things as well). bongoboy is the straight definition of an herb and probably has his dad just waving money in people’s faces for the interviews and even press coverage like you are seeing here on hypebeast now with this post. i wouldn’t be surprised if daddy bought some ads on here or something in exchange for the coverage. this kid has no talent, no knowledge, no drive, no hustle. basically he offers nothing and just wants to take take take and be a “somebody” off this in the most BS way possible. this is why streetwear is either dead or taking its last breaths…kids can now buy their way in instead of putting in the dues and actually having substance. the game is fucked but then again what isn’t nowadays? everytime something of substance, realness, and spontaneous creativity forms it usually gets picked up by the masses and sold out like this anyways. you are now witnessing streetwear in its days of selling out and it goes way farther than bongoboy. hundreds, 10 deep, crooks, etc are now in every mall in america in metropark sitting next to clothing by ed hardy, afflication, and all those other wack ass brands. the douche masses are now taking hold and buying their way to be cool and “different” and could care less that they are basically a few yrs too late. and of course all the brands i mentioned could care less cuz they are now finally getting paid, which i have no problem with personally becuz i would do the same in their position since they put in their just dues and actually are creative, driven, and smart individuals who deserve the financial success they are finally getting. i mean they might be technically “selling out” now but shit who wouldn’t to finally have a proper life and to live the “american dream” that we were all raised to supposed to want from birth? basically streetwear is either going to die and turn to shit or will adapt and not get played. i am hoping for the later. sorry for the rant, i figured we need some realness on here for a second. REAL TALK.

This kid annoys the hell out of me. I love the one where he interviews Chris Nieratko and gets fucked with for the entire duration of the video, which he seems completely oblivious to.

    NO JOKE

  24. Posted by:brandon danowsky on September 12, 2009 at 11:25 pm

for some reason this dude is annoying.

  25. Posted by:why? on September 12, 2009 at 9:52 pm

Huh? Damn people are really ignorant. People got to stop talking shit about Cudi.

I’m not gonna disrespect Bongo Boy either. This kid is on hypebeast because of the fact that he has fans and is trying to do what he loves and you just got to respect that even if you think what you think about his interviews, he can be considered a “somebody”.

You can’t say streetwear is dead until the day people stop following the cultures and people that help make streetwear what it was and is. People are just mad because of the fact that the internet made streetwear how it is today and it’s not like how it was before. Brands like James and Supreme, Rick and Freshjive, Bobby/Ben and The Hundreds would be suffering if they didn’t try new things in a way that makes them look like they didn’t sell out. You try selling clothes that people will actually buy and be successful and then you can talk your shit. This popularity and success they have is because of YOU the consumer and the tool you now use to find style which is Blogs like HYPEBEAST or mainly the INTERNET. If you don’t like something then do what JAMES JEBBIA, SHAWN STUSSY(NOT WITH STUSSY ANYMORE), AND RICK KLOTZ did and do your own thing! Stop your bitching and DO SOMETHING IF YOU HATE THESE BRANDS AND THINK THAT THE HUNDREDS CAN’T MAKE HARDCORE EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE AROUND THE HARDCORE SCENE OR THAT SUPREME IS GAY AND YOU CAN FIND BETTER SHIT THAN A BRAND CONTINUING TO CHANGE THE GAME WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE SELLOUTS AND MAKING IMO GOOD STUFF THEN WEAR SOMETHING ELSE OR JUST SHUT UP!

STOP YOUR HATING AND DO SOMETHING WITH YOUR LIFE AND FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO WEAR OR DO YOUR OWN THING OR EVEN BETTER FUCK OFF! THESE CATS DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR HATE BECAUSE THEY ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING WITH THEIR LIVES AND ARE PEOPLE I THINK DESERVE RESPECT AND I BELIEVE ARE A “SOMEBODY”.
