Known for his work with Nike and his iconic action figures, Korea’s Coolrain recently presented his latest exhibition, DUNKEYS. Featuring his trademark figures, a series of notable pieces and recognizable Nike models are integrated into the design. Aside from the presentation of the of figures comes work by Dave White and other installations such as a life-sized 1:1 model.

    Hmmm… What conversation spawned this sweet exhibit?

    Watching the Jordan free throw line dunk on youtube..
    “Man, I wish I could dunk, how the fuck does he jump that high?”
    “Keep wishin dude, hes black, his genes are different man, they’re like fuckin monkeys”
    “Dude what the fuck… but i guess that makes sense. i got no hops…”
    “Yh man, they’re dunking monkeys, its just the way it is—”
    “–Hey wait!… dunkin’ monkeys….. DUNKEYS!! Muahahaha, I gotta write that down….”

    Just kidding!! Of course there’s no racial subversion going on here, its just an artful exhibit that happens to have monkey headed versions of star athletes from a predominantly black sport… Just fiction, something to think about.
