The OVO movement and its frontman Drake kicked off the year by moving away in various ways from a formerly R&B-based body of work, releasing a track speaking to his life story and childhood. Seizing the club circuit with “Started From The Bottom” was a precursor to the rap-heavy reflections contained in Nothing Was The Same, which debuted in its entirety later in September. Reaching number one on the U.S. Billboard charts, the album assertively featured overtones of braggadocio -- on a level not previously seen by the Canadian act. Continuing as the anchor of his OVO Fest series, Drake also set off on his ‘Would You Like A Tour?’ tour across the U.S. and Canada supported by OVO Sound recordmate PARTYNEXTDOOR among others.
