Looking to brands of the OG era, British label Addict hooked up with XLarge as part of Addict’s “Originators Series”. Aside from XLarge, other contributing brands include FUCT, Freshjive and Grave One. Each brand lent a classic graphic for the Addict mashup. Even though we’re still in the Winter season, having some “hot” items might just warm you up. The streetwear label XLarge has recently released some new novelty items under a “heatwave” series which include an ashtray and a cup. Both items come in two colors. Available now at Calif.
HVW8 or Heavyweight Production House is a creative design firm based out of Canada. Headed by Tyler Gibney, the design house draws influences from rare groove album covers, Japanese hyper-pop styles, dub soundscapes, graffiti burns, skate graphics and turntable culture. They have recently teamed up with streetwear label XLarge to produce a limitedd edition t-shirt. The tee will cost 5,250 Yen and will be available at Calif.
Although XLarge originally began in California, like a handful of American companies they’ve become quite well known in Japan and developed a strong following. Since the creation of XLarge as a brand close to 16 years ago, it has successfully meshed the attitudes of the youth (gen-x) with their mantra of "living large". What started off as a retailer eventually turned into a full fledged brand you see here today. A periodic update of online retailer calif has seen some new items from XLarge go up which should be available in the coming days. These products releasing are the Nice & XLarge beanie, Keep Out in both L/S tee and mesh trucker cap, B-Ball Hooded jacket, B-Ball Varsity jacket and watch. These items will be available at select XLarge dealers as well as calif.
XLarge and San Francisco based artist David Flores will be releasing volume 3 of their DF Project with Medicom Toy. The spring 2007 release was a 100% Bearbrick whereas the upcoming Bearbrick will come in a 400% size designed by David Flores. Also included with this series will be a Bear full zip up hoodie. The 400% Bearbrick will cost ¥6,090 while the Bear hoodie will cost ¥18,900.
XLarge set up a special pair of Love Stars as exclusive products available for members of online retailer calif. Based on a familiar silhouette, the canvas upper includes an all-over print with red accents. For members of calif, these low-cut sneakers are currently available for members here.
For the upcoming 2008 Spring Collection, XLarge has cooked up a series of collections which include the Fat Food, 1991 and the OG Collection. As the name suggests, some pieces are themed around the aforementioned Fat Food theme and include all-over prints of fries, burgers and shakes. The rest of the collections take more subtle approaches which revolve around their earlier styles. Some pieces will release in the coming days. Available at STLESS.
Among the few brands present since the beginning, XLarge has established itself as a recognizable force for all its work and efforts. A look into some upcoming 2007 Fall/Winter pieces includes a logo New Era 59Fifty fitted cap, 3/4 length raglan shirt, stripe crew neck sweater and traditional 5-pocket denim. Manhattan Portage has had a long and storied past since 1980 with many innovative features which have integrated itself into the urban bag scene such as single strapped Cordura bags and durable Delrin buckles. Their everyday urban relevance has led to a collaboration with XLarge on their 1610 messenger bag. Integral features include the use of Cordura materials and entirely waterproof inner and 3M accents. XLarge added some of their own touches such as yellow stitching and inner lining as well as a leather patch. Available for pre-order soon at Calif.
For over 25 years, American mountaineering label Wild Things has been the purveyors of high quality outdoor garments with the specific goal of keeping things light. Their "Light is Right" doctrine has been tested extensively in some of the world’s most demanding scenarios. They recently teamed up with OG street brand XLarge for a pair of re-worked Classic Mountain Parkas. Black and Brown colors are available each including a flannel lining. The jackets will be available for pre-sale at Calif on November 12th, will a full release on November 23rd.
