XLarge’s second collection of summer gear is dropping early next month. A small preview includes a logo New Era (partly inspired by China?), a multiple colored stripes set of shirts and two styles of plastic frames, each available in different lens. Check with XLarge dealers around your area for availability.
The Japanese chapter of streetwear OG’s XLarge has updates its site with pictures from its Spring ‘08 photoshoot. Lots of color and a California feel as expected. From what we can see on the website, the line consist of light-weight flannels, striped polos, and denim that endorse the brand fully with large logos on the pockets and across the seat. They have a large database of their items at the XLarge Japan website which is now also available in English. More pictures after the jump.

XLarge Japan has just launched an extensive archival site that documents the storied brands history through graphics, images and movies. Many pieces of information can be seen originating from as early as 1991. The site can be viewed here.
Back in the days where there was no coined term for what this “culture” all represents, XLarge was around doing their thing as creators of intelligent and witty commentary via t-shirts. As part of a select few that has weathered that storm all these years, here’s a look at their 2008 Spring/Summer collection of tees.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Japanese retailer lay-z-boy, XLarge has created special make-ups of their original logo tee. The detailed print includes subtle details on a tight print. The tee is available in three different colorways.
Biking collective Wolfpack Hustle has extended their X-Hustle collection further with these upcoming products. X-Hustle is a collaborative effort with XLarge to create functional cycling related products as seen with their cap and bar pad. Available March 20th at select X-Hustle dealers.

Artist Yayoi Kusama’s trademark use of polka dots can be seen applied to this recent multi-brand project between XLarge, X-girl and Porter. Interestingly enough, much of Kusama’s inspirations and polka dot designs are derived from a series of hallucinations she experienced as a child which was spawned by physical abuse from her mother. The Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama was born on March 29, 1929. “Her work shows some attributes of feminism, minimalism, surrealism, Art Brut, pop art, and abstract expressionism, and is infused with autobiographical, psychological, and sexual content.” (Wikipedia) To commemorate the documentary film “≒ Yayoi Kusama: I love”, XLarge and X-girl has collaborated with Porter to create a set of Yayoi Kusama bags. There are two styles available, a messenger bag for the guys and a tote bag for the girls. These bags will be released on March 8th.

Streetwear label XLarge has produced a new t-shirt in conjunction with Japanese magazine Samurai Magazine. Together, they have redesigned the signature XLarge pattern using a traditional argyle pattern often seen in golf wear. These tees are available at the Samurai webshop for 4,830 Yen.
Artist Andy Howell has teamed up with XLarge on a new set of items. Creating consumable products, artist team ups often offer a chance for their art to be more widely accessible to the masses. For Howell, he’s no stranger to art with a vast history of providing stunning graphics for the skate industry as well as skating professionally since the late 80s. A new hoodie has been released as part of the Afro Samurai x XLarge collection. The previous releases included a t-shirt featuring an Afro Samurai graphic and a figure. Afro Samurai is a popular manga (comic book) turned anime series featuring Samuel L. Jackson as the lead character. The hoodie is available now at STLESS.
The old generation meets the new with XLarge hooking up with The Hundreds in a California affair. The two heavyweights worked together on the highly overdone G-Shock DW-6900. The watch strap features print seen on recent The Hundreds releases with an XL/TH design seen on the watch face. The box also includes the XLarge ape as well as a special collaborative crest.
