Arguably one of the most beloved and significant shoes from PUMA’s past, the Clyde has been a part of contemporary sneaker culture since its inception in 1973. This time, Puma gave a material update of the re-issued shoe and added it into their 2008 spring season. Metallic leather is adopted and the word ‘Clyde’ is written in a cursive font in lower case (in place of the usual block lettering), which gives the luxurious impression. Unlike most sneakers in general, this Made In Japan model all but ensures a high quality product.

A new pack of colorful Puma Clydes have dropped. Despite the relatively simple nature of the Clyde, Puma has three highly contrasting colorways on this basketball classic. With the last few years bringing multi-colored and often complex themed release in abundance, we’ve seen an apparent return to the roots of many vintage and retro models which have quickly been integrated into the lifestyle market. Puma’s almighty Clyde can be seen in black, baby blue and red full leather uppers.

The proliferation of vintage treatments to sneakers and its trickle down effect sees the venerable Puma Clyde undergo a faded and weathered look. In all honesty, with suede and its impossible upkeep, this gimmick is all but unnecessary as the first freak rain storm or spilling of beer on your suede Clydes/Suedes will leave the same effect seen here. However, classic colorways seen here definitely shouldn’t be overlooked. Look for a worldwide roll out soon.

It’s a known fact that the most colorful animals in the Amazon rain forests are also the most poisonous. One of these animals include the Poison Dart Frog which is the inspiration behind this Puma “Poison Frog” collection. Puma has captured the essence of this strikingly beautiful species of frogs and applied it to the silhouette of the Clyde. Three styles are available each having a dazzling array of colors and patterns. The shoes will be released on a date that comes once every four years, February 29th, 2008.
