Joining big lifestyle brand Burton in Los Angeles’ Melrose area, DC recently launched their own 7,500 sq foot space. The opening party included a preview of the upcoming 2008 Fall collection, food and drinks with appearances by the likes of Rob Dyrdek, Colin McKay, Josh Kalis, Ryan Gallant, Brian Wenning, Lindsay Robertson, PJ Ladd, Chad Kagy, Corey Bohan and Eddie Wall.
Among the first bits of nice to rolling in for 2008 was news that Stussy were set to expand in a series of high profile flagship stores. On the heels of the recent Stussy DC opening, Stussy Las Vegas will setting the City of Sin ablaze in a retail location next to the local favorite UNDFTD. The opening reception is set for Friday, March 7th which includes Just Blaze controlling the music. The store will officially go live the next day, Saturday, March 8th.

With a strong allegiance to motorcycle culture, the Harajuku Neighborhood Store will be the setting for an exhibition of motorbikes, creating the Custom Cycle Division. Definitely something to check out for NBHD and bike enthusiasts alike.
Last week, we had a preview of the upcoming Levi’s sneakers. These shoes are special because they are constructed from different pairs of jeans meaning no two pairs will be the same. For the release of the shoes, the sneaker boutique from Taipei, Taiwan is hosting an exhibition which shows off the sneakers. The exhibition runs from February 23 to March 22. The shoes will be release soon as well.
It’s no surprise the Air Jordan XX3 has been among the main focuses of Nike and Jordan Brand this year as it hits it’s symbolic 23rd rendition. Nike Hong Kong put together a comprehensive event to pay tribute to this legacy. The event included every generation of the Air Jordan on display as well as a giant replica of the Air Jordan XX3.

Insa recently opened his “Buy My Love” exhibition at Glasgow’s Recoat Gallery. Doing it like no other, Insa incorporated his trademark palette into a series of PVC and mural works. Much of his work referenced a fresh bout of sexuality he has now made his norm.

3sixteen offered a preview of their 2008 Spring collection, the “11th Hour”. The theme is based on the notion that the 11th Hour represents the concept of time running low and its something that must be used to its fullest effect. Much like their most recent works, the brand strives to achieve a dark and aggressive nature. In a cross-border meeting, UNDFTD and Canada’s Ransom hooked up together at UNDFTD Las Vegas to showcase each brands respective upcoming collections. The event drew a wide range of industry people for an intimate gathering full of interesting discourse. Both lines exhibited refined directions and relevant themes which have made each brand so respected and popular.

The 2008 Summer Jim Crowe Couture collection has several racially themed undertones offering both serious and more light hearted connotations in some smart aesthetics.
