Its been a long time coming, however the release date for the almighty return of the Etnies Sal 23 is set to drop this weekend, thanks in part to a collaboration with Hawaiian lifestyle brand In4mation. The sneaker has received a contemporary update with a slimmed down profile to reflect the evolution of skate footwear. Both a black leather and red suede version will release at In4mation’s two locations Ward & Waikiki on June 7th.
The ongoing topics around the world have revolved immensely around issues such as rising costs of oil, food and global warming. With global warming and the environmental condition of the world at stake, etnies have initiated another collection of environmentally friendly and sustainable products under the SEED collection. Although its always difficult to forge ahead a partnership based on consumer aspects and environmental sustainability, etnies has done their part via the use of organic and recycled materials as well as incorporating messages of preservation and conservation into their designs. The products will begin rolling out July 2008.
In4mation and skate legend Sal Barbier recently spear headed a movement to bring back Barbier’s 1993 classic, the SLB23. The new 2008 model undergoes a thorough run down from Sal in a video seen over at Etnies, including all new updated design aspects to make the shoe more relevant in a time where shoes are getting more compact. Still no word yet on a release date for these joints.
Summertime is full of concerts and music festival’s attracting all sorts of people to Britain, not to mention lots of sunshine. To pay homage to these events, British work wear brand, R.NEWBOLD, run by designer Paul Smith, released a set of Jamesen Etnies sneakers alongside a pair of flip-flop sandals featuring a sunglass all-over print. Exclusively sold at the R.NEWBOLD flagship store in Japan, these are surely a tough find.

Founded in 2002, New York based and skate inspired brand Verte has teamed up with Etnies on a new collection set to release in stores starting June. The product line up combines old and new with the retro of the Ollie King, offset by a new model, the Jameson. The lone apparel release is a leather jacket. All pieces are subtly branded with the Verte logo and the dominant use of black. Look for these to hit select skate shops in June.
