Everybody’s favorite brand these days seems to be Wacko Maria, brought to light by Tet’s Honeyee blog or by hipster’s guidebook Huge mag. We’ve seen a strong South Western/Blues/Mexican theme until now but of course we had to see some Militaria coming. After all, Army jackets are an integral part of true American fashion, adorned by patriotic loners from Steve McQueen, to John Rambo (First Blood not Rambo pt. 100) and Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver). These jackets are slightly different from the played out M-65 and we see pre-Vietnam garments including the M-56’s forefather the M-51 which has a full velcro strip down the front. Wacko Maria keeps it relevant with the latin Catholic touch and prints the back of the jackets with its trademark Maria icon. Available now at Ark.
Porter’s newest releases as part of the most recent drop include collaboration pieces alongside some of their standard fare. These collaborations include their ongoing collaborations with Beams on the Maryse Sac and a wallet with fashion label Wacko Maria. Their in-house releases include the Dyke Ruck which features a waxed canvas and leather construction and the Heat Tote/Shoulder Bag. The Heat series is made with industrial grade nylon with a bonus Maglite keychain.
