It was inevitable a return to its roots for the Nike Dunk as the last few years have yielded a brash array of mutli-color releases. Although we’re sure colorful colorways are still on their way, the Dunk has seen a much more balanced palette as of late. Here’s a look at some recent Dunk Highs with distressed leather and ostrich highlights. Check your local Nike dealer for availability.

It looks like the Nike ACG department had something cool under their sleeves. They have been recently working on really interesting and functional concept – the Convertible Considered Dunk. This Dunk features a heel flap which can be flipped down making it easy for the wearer to put on or take off. We would imagine that they would be useful for frequent flyers who could easily slip them off during security checks or on the plane. Unfortunately, Nike decided to drop this idea so you probably won’t be seeing this in stores anytime soon.

Five years ago, living legend Haze put to work his creativity and design as him and Nike put the touches on a pack of Nike Dunks. The Haze Dunks are latest and greatest to be featured in the Nike Be True Chronicles, an ongoing showcase of the most heralded Nike Dunks throughout it’s existence. The background story goes as follows with Nike enlisting the help of the talented artist on a new spray technique, eventually giving up the reigns of creative control for the ensuing Hyperstrike box. The shoes could be considered among the tipping points of sneaker insanity as the market would soon explode.
A few years back, it was fashionable in the Sneakerhead community to match your sneakers along with your clothes like t-shirts or jackets. However, for the past year or so, both “Sneakerheads” and “HYPEBEASTs” have opted for more low-cut and stylish sneakers from brands like Vans or Converse. Individuals now focuses on their overall look rather than wearing just hyped up sneakers (like the Dunks). Just today, the Japanese web magazine Honeyee has published a look book feature showing you that Dunks can actually look good if worn with the right pieces. In the feature, you will not see black dunks with a black shirt but rather you will get to experience how a sporty shoe like the Dunk can go with a more sophisticated fit.
You check out the feature here.

As kids, we would throw up our beat up sneakers and try to hang them on telephone poles or electrical wires. This is the concept Nike based their installation on for their setup at the 144 LAB in Los Angeles. Many pairs of the Nike Los Angeles City Dunks were hung on a wire at the gallery. This installation will be there from February 9th to February 16th so if you’re in town, go check this one out.
