In conjunction with the debut of their first magazine, N. Hoolywood has released a special commemorative box-set. For a brand focused on Americana and the exploits of past generation, the magazine’s aesthetic is very reminiscent of an old style newspaper. The package also includes a t-shirt and two iron-on patches.

N. Hoolywood mastermind Daisuke Obana has always maintained a precise theme and approach to each season’s collections. Ranging from the medical world, Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys and an Alaskan lodge in his Camp Denali collection, obscure themes achieve a sense of balance through the eyes of N. Hoolywood. Their 2008 spring/summer collection, After Sputnik details the fashion landscape of space industry workers in the United States as they follow in the footsteps of the Soviet Union in achieving space supremacy. The collection is currently available in select retailers around the world.
A further series of products have released as part of N. Hoolywood’s retrospective collection “After Sputnik”. The overall theme of the spring/summer collection is the previous look into back and forth battle for space supremacy. These most recent t-shirts are all related to various space events including sequence shots of rocket launches and a symbolic shot of a chimpanzee, who were among the first astronauts used by NASA.

As a brand founded on the concept of reinventing a storied American past (one must just look at their Japan flagship store created out of old Hollywood fixtures), N. Hoolywood has looked to the Space Race of the past between the Americans and Soviets as the inspiration for their 2008 Spring/Summer collection, titled “After Sputnik”. The collection features astronaut inspired dress alongside designs based on the dress of the maintenance crew. An interesting concept to say the least.
