Japanese department store Muji is set to open their first store in the United States later this month. With a claim to fame based on their no frills and understated creations, this 3,200 sq ft store will feature items such as stationary, housewares, apparel, appliances and furniture among other things.
In an attempt to bring environmental conservation to a social forefront, Muji has implemented their "My Bag" initiative which discourages the use of bags and excess materials. The first 500 shoppers will be given a special gift within their free "My Bag". A "My Bag" will be given to shoppers for free for the first 3 days, with all bags available for purchase for $1 after the initial opening period. The grand opening is set for November 16th at 12:00 pm.
