JK5 x Mishka Collection

Back in 1999, critically acclaimed artist JK5 put together a vivid 432 page volume of his work titled Subconsciothesaurusnex. The book would go on to form the basis of this collaboration with New York’s Mishka. Over a three day span, the book was carefully dissected and repasted to create a stunning collage of the artist’s works. The collage would then be applied in various forms including t-shirts, hoodies and hats. Although both the artist and brand represent concepts and imagery off the beaten path, one cannot help but realize the perfect union created by these two entities and their flawless execution. The wide sweeping effect of fixed gear riding has resulted in the creation of Mishka’s own fixed gear team of riders. The Death Adders Road and Track (D.A.R.T) Cycling Team groups together some of the areas most prominent and innovative riders around, in hopes they bring a sense of innovation and creativity to the sport. For the Brooklyn based brand, a bike team was a natural progression for an aspect of their every day culture.

Since its inception, much of Mishka’s success was derived from their off-base designs which inevitably filled a big void in the market. While many brands share similar inspirations, the inspirations of Mishka to create their very own look and feel ultimately created a large following. Continually pushing the envelope comes their 2007 Holiday Collection. Some of the pieces here include the Whorde shirt, Alexei Raw Black Selvage denim, M.U.S.C.L.E. hoodie and Gristle windbreaker. Two New Era Fitted Caps are also part of the Holiday drop. An official list of stores stocking Mishka can be seen here. If you’re in the New York area, check out the Mishka Pop-Up Shop.
