As one of the founders and leaders of “streetwear”, Stussy Deluxe has given Stussy a chance to create a collection of apparel to suit the more refined tastes of those who have grown up loving Stussy and the image it represented. An evident visual difference is seen across Stussy Deluxe’s collection of jackets, hoodies and button-ups. Available now at Haven.
For spring 2008, King Stampede focused on creating clean pieces that can be worn day after day. This classic look is evident in their choice of mostly solid colored fabrics alongside a minimal use of branding details on a number of button-up shirts, selvedge denim, and an updated short fit that hits just above the knee for a more mature look. The collection also includes King Stampede’s signature New Era caps and graphic tees. This time around the graphics were designed with a “one off” approach to give a stream of consciousness feeling to the collection. The imagery was influenced by mystical thinking and the psychedelic experience of visionaries such as Aldous Huxley, Gordon Wasson and Albert Hofmann. Available now at Boundless NY.
The Converse (Product) Red initiative has developed extensively since its inception, looking high and low for a wealth of interesting designers to offer their own perspectives on the philosophy of (Product) Red. One of the more interesting designers to collaborate with Converse is Umbereen Qureshi, whose talents have been applied predominately to the automotive industry. Her design focuses around a minimalist repeating image of Africa. Her design ethos was based on her learnings that inspirations should become repeated and highlighted constantly. She further highlights the uncanny ability of artists to offer strong visual messages that go beyond words. There has not been any release info yet regarding this All Star.
