One of the toys that we can honestly say transformed the toy culture are the Bearbricks. Their cuteness makes them easily acceptable to a wide audience plus having worked with many high profile artist and designers helps boost their popularity as well. Included in this new collection is the 100% & 400% Elvis Bearbrick, the Oasis Bearbrick set, the Boobo Bearbrick, and the Babbi Bearbrick. There is also the Bearbrick Series 16 soon to be released as well but no pictures have been released on those. We wished they would make more 400% Bearbricks instead of the 100% ones.

Last year in June, we saw the release of the 4 feet Companion toy from the artist KAWS. The toy which cost $2500 USD was instantly sold out when it was released. Recently some friends of KAWS including Nigo and Kei had a visit to KAWS’ studio in New York. In one of the pictures from his blog, there is a 4 feet Companion in a Black colorway. Unfortunately, there is currently no information whether this is an upcoming release or just a sample made for “friends and family”.
As an Italian confectionery company, Babbi opened its first doors in Japan in 2002. Its craft of making chocolates, gelato and wafer treats would gain them Japan-wide popularity. This popularity has been translated into a set of Bearbricks from Medicom Toys. The flat black paint includes silver print to create the facial features. Look for these to hit all Babbi stores starting February 22nd.

Surrender, which is owned by Earn Chen & James Lavelle, carries some of the best street brands in the world including their own store brand also called Surrender. It looks like there will be two sizes for this Bearbrick including a 1000% one and a 400% one. Rumor has it that when the weather gets hot, the Bearbrick will reveal that its wearing a bikini. We’re not sure how that works but it will be interesting to see when they release this Bearbrick.
