Description

Japanese graphic designer Sk8thing is the co-founder and owner of Japanese streetwear brand C.E (Cav Empt) along with Toby Feltwell. The designer has stated his influences include hip-hop, skateboarding and London culture. Sk8thing has no formal education in art, only having honed his artistic skills from drawing since childhood, and learning his design skills from his friends. Characterized by his matter-of-fact secrecy and anonymity, Sk8thing is commonly seen wearing face masks, hats and glasses, and is publically seen with a partially-covered face. This was first inspired by the film The Phantom of the Opera, which Sk8thing saw as a young child and felt he could relate to the Phantom’s character. In the past, he has created designs for the likes of Billionaire Boys Club/Ice Cream, NEIGHBORHOOD, BAPE, UNDERCOVER, Bounty Hunter, WTAPS and T-19, and has worked together with the likes of NIGO, Pharrell and Hiroshi Fujiwara.
