Description

Michael Packer is the owner of Packer Shoes and Executive VP of Ewing Athletics. Originally founded by great-grandfather Max in 1907, Packer Bros. was run by father Martin, who let Mike dabble in the business when he was young. Eventually going to law school, Mike later worked as an attorney for a client doing business in Japan. From making several work trips to Japan every year, Mike saw the potential for a sneaker boutique from observing the Japanese culture surrounding luxury sneakers, coupled with the spread of sneaker stores in Los Angeles and New York. In 2004, Mike opened Packer Shoes as an offshoot of his family business, choosing Teaneck, New Jersey to base his boutique in because of his own time spent living there, as well as the high concentration of notable figures from the worlds of entertainment and sports in the region. Packer has since teamed up with the likes of adidas, New Balance, Reebok, ASICS and Fila for a slew of successful footwear releases, which have been praised for Packer’s unique color combinations and material choices. Packer is also credited for the revival of the brand Ewing Athletics, which had a slew of strong collaborative releases in 2014.
