Michael Huynh is the founder and Creative Director of Publish Brand. With no formal education in design, Huynh is a self-taught designer who entered the fashion industry at the young age of 22. Under the direction of Huynh, his label Publish Brand is widely recognized and credited as the premier purveyor of the jogger pant -- which features a tapered slim fit down the ankle with cinched cuffs -- and other similar styles such as the drop crotch pant and the harem pant. It started in July 2009, when Alex James, Huynh’s close friend and author of Publish Brand, wore Marc Jacobs sweatpants that inspired Huynh to create a similar style. At first, the factory his garments were outsourced from had made a mistake -- rather than the comfortable, brushed fleece material he had originally wanted, the factory had created his pant sample in stretch twill. Huynh and his team began to experiment by pairing the jogger pant with iconic sneakers to tweak the pant style to be effortlessly versatile. These turn of events eventually lead to one of the most influential pant styles of menswear in the 2000s and onward. Huynh has made out his brand’s mission to push menswear in a direction that is comfortable for men, with a focus on reinterpreting basic silhouettes into novel tailored silhouettes and blending sophistication with comfort. Huynh is recognized for delivering carefully considered collections and uncompromising stance on quality and accountability. Huynh is an avid Buddhist who puts Buddha first in his life. He is now located in Orange County, California, U.S.A, and continues to work alongside his crew at 112 Distribution.
