In4mation and skate legend Sal Barbier recently spear headed a movement to bring back Barbier’s 1993 classic, the SLB23. The new 2008 model undergoes a thorough run down from Sal in a video seen over at Etnies, including all new updated design aspects to make the shoe more relevant in a time where shoes are getting more compact. Still no word yet on a release date for these joints.
As the Original Fake 2nd Annviersary garnered much attention and anticipation, more developments have surfaced regarding some of OF’s unforeseen collaborations. Exiting outside an already stellar cast of collaborative partners such as Levi’s, Visvim and Stussy, Original Fake has more up their sleeve with fashion label Under Cover and women’s rock-inspired brand Hysteric Glamour jumping on board.

We’ve seen many permutations of the classic deck shoe in recent memory, however few have done it like American company Rogues Gallery. They’ve created two styles of the deck style including a conventional low top shoe style as well as a lesser seen and uncommon boot rendition. The streamline shape of the boot is maintained throughout for a clean look. Both styles are available now at Nomad.
As a tribute to some of the most memorable athletes to come out of San Francisco, Atlanta and Philadelphia, Diamond Supply Co. has created the Hall of Fame Pack. The collection of three tees includes photo prints of hall of fame athletes such as Joe Montana and the 49ers, Hank Aaron of the Atlanta Braves and Julius Erving of the Philadelphia 76ers. An early look into Japanese MMA fighter and Nike sponsored Caol Uno’s 2008 fall/winter collection for UCS has been provided via Cueve. The aesthetics and stylings portrayed by UCS is a marked difference relative to the brands of his American MMA inspired counterparts which focus largely on logo driven designs, creating a visible difference in approach to their lines. For UCS, the collection is diverse including technical jackets, denim and hats produced in association with hat brand CA4LA. The items won’t release until November, however they are currently available for pre-order.
The latest online exclusive t-shirt from Japan’s Neighborhood has hit their online shop. The t-shirt’s theme keeps current with the present 2008 spring/summer Delta 1st Ex. collection with references to the Mississippi. Available within the Neighborhood online store however only shipping within Japan is offered.
Toy and apparel giant, Kidrobot, is opening up its doors for the grand opening of New York City’s flagship store today. After spending years in a quaint little space down the road on Prince Street in SoHo, Kidrobot finally has upgraded itself into a two-level store with enough room to satisfy the multitudes of customers. Hiroshi Fujiwara, the godfather of streetwear, has just recently visited the Nike Campus in Beaverton, Oregon, for the Nike Beijing 08 Innovation Summit. The event showcased upcoming releases including the much anticipated Hyperdunks. While there, it seems that HF had a lot of fun touring the campus and rock climbing, an activity that probably only Nike has at their headquarters. But of course he wouldn’t go without meeting with Nike President and CEO, Mark Parker, discussing unrevealed shoes.
