HAVEN has been a bastion for streetwear and street culture in Canada since its inception in 2006. Brothers Arthur and Daniel Chmielewski’s unflinching eye for top brands and quality goods have kept HAVEN at the forefront of retail cool on a global scale. This year, the concept shop’s three-year-old eponymous clothing label continued to showcase its adeptness for functional, utilitarian design. Nuanced styles blending military and outdoor garments with street fashion sensibilities have made HAVEN a prime choice for seasonal staples amongst discerning shoppers. Premiere fabrics and streamlined silhouettes have also been key for the Chmielewski brothers as they proceed to build on the brand’s effortlessly cool identity.
HAVEN’s 2020 was also a busy one in terms of collaborations and new beginnings. The retailer partnered with Japanese outdoor brand Mountain Research for a clothing capsule, while New Balance, Converse and Vans were tapped for some choice footwear releases. Accessories in the form of sunglasses made with eco-friendly materials also made their debut this year for the line. Lastly, Arthur and Daniel Chmielewski moved to a new 6,800-square-feet office space this year in Vancouver’s Eastside downtown. The space not only houses a design and photo studio but also HAVEN’s wholesale distribution operations.
