Acclaimed Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama has experienced a busy 2019 filled with shows and collaborations. Earlier this year, Sorayama and Dior launched pop-up pods in North American cities while also launching the high-top B23 sneaker. Creative Director of the fashion house Kim Jones expanded the partnership with the artist, enlisting Sorayama for Dior’s first beachwear capsule for summer 2019. Sorayama then teamed up with Case Studyo on ‘The Midas Touch’ sculptural edition. Shortly afterwards, 88rising tapped Sorayama for their ‘Head in the Clouds II’ collaborative merchandise. More recently, Sorayama unveiled new ‘Sexy Robot’ sculptures at NANZUKA’s momentous group exhibition at Jeffrey Deitch’s NYC & LA galleries. Most recently, the artist joined forces with Daniel Arsham to create hybridized sculptures of their signature motifs as part of NANZUKA’s “2G” Studio exhibition at Shibuya PARCO.
