Yohji Yamamoto is the founder of his eponymous line and the brand Y’s — a range Yamamoto initially started encouraging women to wear men’s fashion. He’s also the head designer for the adidas brand Y-3 which fuses Yamamoto’s ultra-progressive design sensibilities with the Three Stripes’s more functional sportswear direction. 2018 has yielded much success for Yamamoto — he’s collaborated with New Era and Dr. Martens in addition to elevating his mainline’s graphic offerings. For Y-3, the 75-year-old creative introduced some of the most outstanding sneaker designs of the year which includes the Runner 4D, Kaiwa and the BYW Bball. The Japanese multi-hyphenate also debuted a new fragrance line, online shop and new physical space called THE SHOP YOHJI YAMAMOTO all this year.
