Achievement
Demna Gvasalia is a Georgian designer currently serving as the Creative Director of Balenciaga and the head designer of Vetements — two of the most important fashion labels that spearheaded the age of “luxury streetwear.” After leading design teams at Maison Martin Margiela and Louis Vuitton, Gvasalia founded Vetements in 2014, immediately carving out the label’s tongue-in-cheek take on fashion and mass culture. The brand has been known for collaborating with “normcore” imprints such as DHL, Umbro, Reebok, Levi’s and more. In 2015, Gvasalia was appointed the Creative Director of Balenciaga, transforming the heritage luxury label into a pioneer of bold logo branding and street-informed designs whose fans include Kanye West and Rihanna. Balenciaga became a principle trendsetter in contemporary fashion with flagship products such as the Triple-S sneaker and the IKEA-inspired tote bags.
