Founded in 1921, Gucci was known for its Italian-made luggage and leather goods until it was reinvigorated by designer Tom Ford during the 1990s. Under the stewardship of its current creative director, Alessandro Michele, the label is now best known for its eclectic styling, historic references, and freewheeling approach to gender fluidity, and has become one of the world’s most lucrative — and widely imitated — luxury houses.
Since Frida Giannini became the creative director of the mens wear line in 2006, the collection became a bit louder and the use of large Gucci logos became apparent in the designs. Seen here are some new items from Gucci’s Spring/Summer 2008 Collection. On the model above, he is wearing a red Gucci Nylon Jacket ($8,090 HKD), Gucci Checkered Shorts ($5,570 HKD) and a pair of Gucci Boat Shoes ($3,300 HKD). More after the jump.

Without a doubt, the rich will still find it necessary to wear luxury items even during a gas attack. Check out these novelty masks supposedly from Diddo Velema in collaboration with Gucci and Louis Vuitton. These jewel encrusted, monogram basted pieces will assure the survival of the richest the day someone decides to push the button.
Editor’s Note: Diddo Velema contacted us to clarify a few things. The gas masks were created purely as an art project to highlight the underlying societal climate that demands consumption, and not an official collaboration of any sorts. More information can be seen through the Diddo Velema website and through a note seen below.
Designer Gas Masks is a conceptual art project. The masks are not real commercial products. They are designed to be displayed in magazines and exhibited at galleries. They are not for sale. The brands used to visualize the concept have been done so without their permission. However, as the artist, I am not responsible for any copyright infringements that may result from the publication/display of the masks.
