Seiko Continues Its 145th Anniversary Celebrations With Six Limited-Edition “Edo Purple” Timepieces

To mark its 145th anniversary, Seiko has unveiled a series of limited‑edition watches inspired by “Edo purple,” a traditional Japanese color deeply tied to Tokyo’s cultural heritage. The commemorative collection reflects Seiko’s founding philosophy of being “Always one step ahead of the rest,” blending historical symbolism with modern watchmaking. Each model incorporates purple tones alongside gold accents, representing both Edo’s legacy and Seiko’s enduring commitment to enriching lives with beauty and innovation.
The commemorative series spans six distinct models across Seiko’s key watch families, each offering a unique interpretation of the heritage colorway. The Prospex line receives two additions: the Prospex Alpinist Mechanical (Ref. HBC006), which reinterprets the 1959 original with a purple dial, wedge-shaped indices, “Alpinist” logotype, and an LWG-certified leather strap limited to 7,000 pieces; and the Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph (Ref. HBJ005), powered by Caliber V192 with a purple-accented dial and tachymeter bezel limited to 8,000 pieces. Meanwhile, the high-tech Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph (Ref. HAB011) features the Caliber 5X83, a purple vertical gradation dial with a horizontal line pattern, a titanium case, and ceramic bracelet center links in a run of 2,000 pieces.
Rounding out the collection are three more lifestyle and heritage-driven designs. The Seiko Presage Cocktail Time (Ref. HCB006) takes inspiration from the “Edo Purple” cocktail created by STAR BAR owner Hisashi Kishi, showcasing a translucent purple dial with gold-flake highlights and a GMT hand in a 6,000-piece drop. The Seiko 5 Sports SKX (Ref. HDB003) reinterprets the iconic SKX diver silhouette with a deep purple dial, gold accents, and a glossy Hardlex bezel limited to 9,999 pieces. Last but not least, the Seiko Selection “Rotocall” Digital (Ref. HFL001) recreates the cult-favorite 1982 digital watch with an all-black coated case, gold accents, and an iconic purple rotary function switch limited to 4,000 pieces. All models feature “LIMITED EDITION” caseback engravings and will be available globally starting in October 2026 at Seiko Boutiques and select retail partners.
