HBO is returning to the hallowed halls of Hogwarts with the official unveiling of a first look at its highly anticipated Harry Potter television series. Serving as a brand-new visual introduction to the expanding wizarding world, the initial image formally introduces Dominic McLaughlin as the iconic titular wizard while setting the stage for the franchise’s next major on-screen chapter.

Shared directly to the show’s official Instagram page, the newly released photograph captures McLaughlin from behind as he makes his way toward the legendary Hogwarts Quidditch pitch. The image is steeped in classic series iconography, showcasing the actor draped in a traditional red and gold Gryffindor cloak. Staying true to the beloved source material, the back of the recognizable athletic robe prominently displays the “Potter” last name alongside the player number seven.

Adding depth to the environment, McLaughlin is seen carrying his broomstick while trailing behind a large gathering of students entering the outdoor arena. The atmospheric shot further details the vibrant world-building of the upcoming adaptation, with stadium flags representing both the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff houses clearly visible in the background.

Joining McLaughlin in the cast of the adaptation are Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger. Also included are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

The Harry Potter series is slated to premiere in 2027.
