Summary
- Piaget’s Place Vendôme flagship, redesigned by Rafael de Cárdenas, doubles its footprint and embodies the Maison’s “Extraleganza” identity
- Interiors blend blue, coral and gold with heritage displays, bespoke furniture, and contemporary art curation
The historic Piaget boutique at 16 Place Vendôme in Paris has undergone a transformative renovation by Rafael de Cárdenas, Ltd., doubling its original footprint to serve as a flagship for the Maison’s “Extraleganza” philosophy.
From the exterior, circular windows framed with blue sodalite panels pay homage to Piaget’s historic stone dials and French decorative masters such as Jean Royère, while inviting passers‑by into a vibrant world of color and form. Inside, the boutique is structured like a cabinet of curiosities, featuring a series of adjoining rooms inspired by the layout of classic Haussmann-style apartments.
Visitors are greeted by the radiant cabinet of virtuosity on the ground floor, showcasing heritage creations, before ascending a sinuous golden staircase to a mezzanine marked by an undulating mural and domed display cabinet. The space is further enriched by tailor-made furniture and iconic design furniture, such as Pierre Paulin’s Mushroom armchair and a precious lacquer console table that mimics the fusion of liquid gold and blue stone. A sinuous, asymmetrical staircase with the luster of molten gold leads visitors toward the upper levels, where a ceiling fresco inspired by malachite, created by Julien Gautier, hangs above the latest high jewelry collections.
As Piaget’s CEO Benjamin Comar notes, this boutique is “a celebration of life, an explosion of light,” marking a new chapter in Piaget’s creative expression and reinforcing its legacy at the heart of Place Vendôme. The flagship is designed as a cultural hub for conversation and artistic exchange, echoing the spirit of the original 1959 Salon Piaget in Geneva. The space will also host a rotating display of contemporary artworks, renewed every six months, to honor the Maison’s long-standing connection with era-defining artists.
