Lucid has set its sights on delivering the most advanced EV cars in the world. Initiated by the arrival of several Lucid Air sedans, the next chapter of the Californian brand’s journey now turns to SUVs with the creation of the all-electric Lucid Gravity.

Hypebeast steps into the world of the Lucid Gravity to closely examine the design features that make it a vision of the future. Engineered to evoke a sequence of emotions before even getting into the driver’s seat, the brand’s debut SUV aims to look beyond technical performance and instead focus on the individual elements that work in harmony to create an unparalleled driving experience. This intentional approach to craftsmanship, which draws inspiration from the synergy of an orchestra, strikes the perfect balance between sports-like performance and the space of a traditional seven-seater. Going 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, the thrill experienced by its high speeds is an example of how Lucid’s engineers are prioritizing the emotional response of driving a Gravity.

In the Touring and more powerful Grand Touring trim, Lucid Gravity also gives drivers the invaluable gift of spare miles with up to 748km of combined range. Whether that means having the freedom to take the longer, scenic route or making detours to chase better weather, it’s a luxury not available to most EVs. As well as boasting a charge time of just 14 minutes for 400 km, journeys can now become more spontaneous, too, turning the mundane routines of everyday life into an opportunity to explore.

As you take your position inside, the revolutionary approach to vehicle design flows across all corners of the expansive interior. Through carefully composed acoustic isolation, the chaos of the outside world quietens the moment the doors close. Its powerful drive almost feels like a secondary feature as it commands silence, calmness, and ushers the driver and passengers to enjoy the journey together. The addition of tactile seats, as well as a few handy features for working on the go, underscores the comfortable design of the interiors, all of which can be folded away to deliver increased storage volume.

Not only adapting to the rhythm of contemporary life, Lucid Gravity has also been ingeniously crafted to change the way people interact with their vehicles. As seen in the visuals, a floating 34-inch 6K OLED display and overhead roof display seamlessly come together to transcend the typically rigid arena of the car, immersing drivers in a cinematic series of Californian landscapes. From digital to reality, the defining frunk compartment also opens up when standing still to allow passengers to enjoy the views on their travels, continuing to blur the lines between the car and the outdoors.

Taking this cinematic philosophy into the wider world, next week, Lucid gears up to host an intimate showcase at Berlin’s iconic Tempodrom. Translating the essence of its engineering sensibilities into the physical realm, the brand will bring audiences closer to the car’s theater of emotions as part of the city’s International Film Festival. Titled “The Seven Suite” – referencing its symphony-like design – it will introduce the Lucid Gravity on Berlin’s most prestigious stage, spotlighting its multisensory experience with dramatic scores of French-American conductor and performer Uèle Lamore.

Stay tuned to Hypebeast to explore what comes next from the unique experiences of the intimate event.
