Summary
- Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi launches Dear Boro, a label blending traditional Japanese Boro techniques with modern, artisanal street culture
- Releasing in mid-February, the 12-piece range features experimental denim, technical jackets and more
Motofumi “Poggy” Kogi, the influential fashion curator known for bridging Japanese craftsmanship with global street culture, has officially launched his own label, Dear Boro.
Drawing inspiration from the history of Boro – the practice of patching and reinforcing workwear – Poggy reimagines these historical sewing techniques as a modern artistic medium, emphasizing the tactile quality of high-end materials and artisanal production. The label aims to provide a modern style where heritage and innovation intersect, emphasizing the essence of a garment over fleeting trends.
The debut collection offers a curated 12-piece lineup that focuses on refined silhouettes and experimental textiles. Notable styles include five distinct jacket designs, ranging from technical nylon pieces to intricate denim jackets, alongside utilitarian trousers and premium jersey basics. Standout pieces such as the 1985 Denim Jacket and 1985 Jean highlight the brand’s focus on material longevity, while more exclusive items like the Eric Haze Kung-Fu Jacket showcase Poggy’s deep-rooted connections to international creative collaborators.
Priced from ¥71,500 to ¥291,500 JPY (approx. $455 – $1,856 USD), the first collection of Dear Boro is set to release in mid-February. Keep an eye out for updates via the brand’s Instagram.
