Warner Bros. has unveiled a striking new look at THE BRIDE!, Maggie Gyllenhaal’s highly anticipated follow-up to The Lost Daughter. This “punk-rock” reimagining of a gothic classic transports audiences to 1930s Chicago, where a reclusive and lonely Frankenstein (Christian Bale) enlists the help of an iconoclastic scientist, Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening), to fabricate a companion. Their experiment leads to the resurrection of a murdered young woman (Jessie Buckley), but the being that emerges possesses a radical agency that defies her creators’ intentions.
What begins as a quest for companionship quickly spirals into a whirlwind of murder, supernatural possession, and a radical cultural uprising. Gyllenhaal, directing from her own screenplay, crafts a world where outlaw lovers navigate a chaotic and transformative era. The film features a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Penélope Cruz, ensuring a high-stakes dramatic experience that blends classic gothic tropes with a wild, modern energy.
The production is bolstered by an elite creative team, including Academy Award-winning costume designer Sandy Powell and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir. This “First Love Films” production promises to be a visceral, large-scale cinematic event designed specifically for the big screen. Audiences won’t have to wait long to witness this fiery reimagining; ‘THE BRIDE!’ arrives in IMAX and theaters internationally on March 4, 2026, followed by its North American debut on March 6, 2026.
