Summary

  • Sabrina Carpenter’s seventh album, Man’s Best Friend, is now avaiable to stream, released in tandem with the “Tears” music video
  • The 12-track album blends a ’70s disco with a distinct country-pop sound, topped with Carpenter’s signature tongue-in-cheek humor

Following her hit album Short n’ Sweet last summer, Sabrina Carpenter now drops her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend. Co-produced by Carpenter alongside Jack Antonoff and John Ryan, the 12-track set spans playful titles like “Go Go Juice” and pointed ballads such as “We Almost Broke Up Again Last Night.”

Anchoring the album is lead single “Manchild,” first released back in June with a Western-inspired music video that cast Carpenter as an empowered drifter traversing scorched horizons, perfectly reflecting her knack for marrying tongue-in-cheek lyricism with heartfelt candor. Tracks like “Tears” and “Goodbye” pull listeners into intimate reflections, while “My Man on Willpower” amalgamates iconic country sounds with a touch of disco. Coinciding with the album’s launch, Carpenter also unveiled the official video for “Tears,” featuring Colman Domingo in a performance drenched in the glam-bizarre spirit reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Carpenter describes Man’s Best Friend as “a real party for heartbreak, a celebration of disappointment,” crediting the album’s effortless spirit to collaborating with “three of my best, most brilliant friends — Amy, Jack and John.” In an Instagram post she admitted, “If I could turn back time and relive these memories I would. God damn, we had so much fun, and you can hear it!” That unfiltered joy shines through every beat, transforming heartache into an invitation to laugh at life’s messy moments.

Musically, Man’s Best Friend strikes a balance between buoyant pop hooks and raw emotional textures, all buoyed by Carpenter’s warm, crystalline vocals. From vibrant up-tempo grooves to contemplative mid-tempo gems, the album showcases her evolution into a multifaceted songwriter unafraid to explore the full spectrum of connection — laughing, crying and reckoning with love’s unpredictable twists.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend is available to stream on all major streaming platforms now.
