'Halo' TV Series Has Been Canceled at Paramount+
Just after two seasons.
Paramount+ has officially canceled the Halo TV series after just two seasons. The producers of the show adaptation for the video game franchise is expected to look for a new home now that it will no longer be a Paramount project.
Starring Pablo Schreiber as the Master Chief John-117, the series was heavily based on the popular Xbox franchise of the same name. In an official statement, Paramount+ said, “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best going forward.”
343 Industries also released a statement of gratitude, “We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success, and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.” As the show’s producers, 343, Xbox and Amblin are actively looking for an outlet for the third season and Paramount is said to be supportive. The Halo series took many years before landing on the streamer. Years and years of effort first saw the series hit Showtime in 2014, before becoming a formal series order in 2018, just prior to moving to Paramount+ in 2021. According to Nielsen’s ranking, the show’s popularity saw it spend five weeks in the top 10 original streaming series when season two came out in February, garnering over 1.8 billion minutes of viewing in America during that time.
