Supreme x Melvins Release Spring 2024 Collaboration
Featuring a range of streetwear staples sporting Melvin’s iconic album art.
For Supreme’s latest Spring 2024 delivery, the New York imprint linked up with American rock band, Melvins to craft an exclusive capsule collection.
Originally formed in 1983 in Monesano, the band has long been credited as pioneers of Seattle’s 80s grunge sound. Their presence in the era has been impactful, as it blazed the trail for many bands after, notably Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden. Krist Novoselic, Nirvana’s bassist and co-founder once said, “Every Seattle band of the late ’80s owes a little something to the Melvins, a band that slowed down the tempo and played sludgy riffs.”
Throughout the years, the Melvins have retained a cult following, while also remaining creative and experimental in their musical work. Likewise, their album art is equally diverse, ranging from colorful, brooding, abstract, photographic to retro. The collaborative capsule comprises a range of apparel, spanning a BDU jacket, S/S polo, hooded sweatshirt, T-shirts as well as headwear, all featuring Melvin’s iconography and Supreme’s logo. Aside from clothing, a custom-shaped pillow is also offered, coming in the silhouette of the Two-Headed Dog — a character that can be spotted on the cover of Melvin’s album, Houdini.
The Supreme x Melvins Spring 2024 collaboration will see a global release via the brand’s webstore starting May 9. From May 11 onwards, the collection will be officially available in the Asia region.
