Ahead of Hypebeast Flea New York on May 18 and 19, Hypebeast is spotlighting each of the event’s more than 30 vendors by giving an overview of their practice, their inspirations, and what they plan to bring to the event. Hypebeast Flea New York is free to attend — RSVP HERE

Under the tagline “Design Outside the Jewelry Box,” STUDIOCULT founder Yuliya Veligurskaya transforms everyday objects into double-take-worthy accessories. The designer’s earrings realistically resemble soda tabs, fish hooks, hex keys and those “Cool S” drawings that are probably all over your elementary school notebook, while her bags take after binder clips and grocery bread tags. Her rings, too, are conversation starters, with designs mirroring zip ties, honey pots, pink pools and astrological signs. With a campy ethos, Veligurskaya hopes to spark joy, nostalgia and comfort for those who choose to wear her creations.

Explain your brand to people who may not know you yet.

STUDIOCULT is a Brooklyn-based fashion jewelry brand inspired by Y2K and youth culture. The brand’s immediately recognizable style is influenced by creative director Yuliya Veligurskaya’s background in architecture. Specializing in bold, sleek, forms that sculpturally sit on the body, this jewelry will have onlookers obsessed. Prepare yourself for compliments!

What about New York inspires you the most?

I feel that self-expression is a core tenet of New York. As a designer and entrepreneur, it’s incredibly difficult to imagine a better place to live. I love the proximity to almost every culture, cuisine, interest, or event that you would want to experience. It’s not the easiest city to live in, but it’s the city in which my dreams were made possible.

What have you got planned at Hypebeast Flea?

We will have our full collection of jewels on display. We will also preview a jewelry collaboration with a beloved NYC brand that we plan to release mid-June. Stop by and be the first to get an inside look!

What other vendors are you looking forward to checking out at Hypebeast Flea?

We’re really excited to stop by Parkmart, Pink Essay + Extra Vitamins!
