Steve Terry’s Wild Life Archive is a massive collection of  books, photos and related artifacts chronicling dance and music culture from its earliest origins to present day. The ever-growing assemblage features over 4,000 items dating back to the early 1970s including New York disco, Chicago house, Detroit techno, Ibiza Balearic, among many others.

One of the highlights of the archive is a bandana featuring original artwork by Keith Haring which the late artist designed for the iconic Paradise Garage disco club back in 1984. “Keith Haring’s association with night clubs started at Club 57 in New York on his arrival into the city in 1978. He went on to dance at & work with many legendary venues,” expressed the organization in a statement. Another notable item is the Disco book by Albert Goldman that was published in 1978. Considered to be one of the most definitive disco reads, the book offers raw and intimate views of the late 1970s dance scene.

The Wild Life Archive’s permanent collection was initially going to be featured at Desa Potato Head later this month, but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the show has been postponed for early 2021.

Check out select artifacts in the slideshow above and then visit the Wild Life Archive’s website for more details on the collection.

In other news, Vhils has unveiled a new monograph titled Pentimento which features the most extensive survey of his work to date.
