Bentley Prepares Its Continental GT for Races in the Snow
Competing for the first time at Zell am See, Austria.
Next month, British luxury automaker Bentley will be competing at the GP Ice Race in Zell am See, Austria, for the very first time, and in preparation for the monumental occasion, the team has modified one of its most versatile supercars: the Continental GT.
While the vehicle participating in the winter race will still carry the brand’s legendary W12 engine, which pushes out a whopping 626 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, a number of changes have been required by the GP Ice Race in order for the racer to compete. Aside from both an increased ground clearance and increased track width, a rear roll cage has been installed, alongside an onboard fire suppression system. Of course, racing seats and harnesses come standard, coupled with studded Pirelli Scorpion tires, a custom exhaust system built by Akrapovic, and Lazer high-performance lights on top of the car, all upgrades necessary to prepare the car for the harsh winter conditions. As an added touch, Bentley even collaborated with Bomber on a custom ski rack that can hold a pair of skis.
