Independent watch brand Nivada Grenchen has added a fun new offering to its Antarctic series. Dubbed Antarctic Erotic, the new timepiece serves as a playful nod to the historic “erotic” watches in watchmaking. As its name suggests, the timepiece features a raunchy design element, but instead of flaunting it in the open, this mischievous detail is tucked away on the caseback. Conceived by a respected independent watchmaker under the alias of “Dr. Coldwater,” it depicts a pair of copulating penguins, animated on the exhibition caseback — a creative yet frolic homage to the Antarctic’s signature penguin emblem.

Beyond its cheeky backside, the watch features a rather normal and classic dial. Staying true to the brand’s vintage-inspired aesthetic, the Antarctic Erotic is housed in a 38mm stainless steel “Spider Case” and is offered in several iterations. The watch face is clean and balanced, with hours, minutes and seconds displayed through a modified Soprod P054 movement, while one colorway also includes a discreet date complication. The dial is also protected by a single-curve sapphire lens, enhancing legibility and adding a subtle vintage charm.

The collection offers a wide range of dial executions, including popular salmon and beige variants alongside classic black and white options.
