Horror titans Jason Blum and James Wan have officially introduced Blumhouse Atomic, the new umbrella banner uniting their merged production companies Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. The joint corporate identity formalizes the creative alliance between the two genre powerhouses while allowing both labels to continue operating as distinct production entities.
“When we merged our companies, we believed the whole would be greater than the sum of its parts and that is exactly what has happened,” stated Jason Blum. “We have the output of a studio with the creative freedom and financial discipline of an independent company, and more opportunities than ever to take these stories beyond the theater and into television, games and live experiences.” Since combining operations in 2024, the collaborative banners have grossed over $2.5 billion globally against production budgets under $330 million, bolstered in 2026 by Curry Barker’s Obsession and Kane Parsons’ Backrooms.
“The future of horror comes from new voices, and Blumhouse Atomic gives us more ways to find them and support them for the long haul,” added James Wan. To support this micro-budget framework, the company appointed Sam Zimmerman as senior vice president of development and acquisitions to oversee genre features budgeted under $5 million, alongside a first-look agreement with Divide/Conquer ahead of a 2027 theatrical slate featuring The Exorcist: Martyrs and Blair Witch.
