JOURNAL STANDARD relume has unveiled a new capsule collection in collaboration with Back to the Future, celebrating the enduring legacy of the iconic 1985 sci-fi classic. This release focuses on a vintage-inspired aesthetic, utilizing heavy distressing and “cracked” graphic prints to evoke the feeling of authentic 80s movie merchandise. By blending the cinematic nostalgia of Marty McFly’s adventures with relume’s signature casual Japanese styling, the collaborative range offers a contemporary take on the “movie tee” trend that appeals to both film buffs and streetwear enthusiasts.
The centerpiece of the collection is a series of distressed long-sleeve t-shirts featuring legendary imagery, including the DeLorean time machine and the film’s unmistakable title logo. These garments are characterized by a deliberate vintage-wash effect and frayed detailing along the hems and cuffs, mimicking years of natural wear. The graphics are applied using a specialized printing technique that intentionally cracks over time, further enhancing the retro appeal. Available in a muted palette of black, white, and charcoal, these pieces serve as versatile staples designed for an effortless, lived-in look.
Priced at ¥ 12,100 JPY (approx. $77 USD), the JOURNAL STANDARD relume x Back to the Future capsule is currently available through the BAYCREW’S online store and select JOURNAL STANDARD relume locations in Japan.
