Curvy Dining: An Architectural Bloom in Bangkok's Industrial Landscape

Designed by Bangkok-based design and architectural firm, Unknown Surface Studio, Curvy Dining is a café tucked away in Bangkok’s Soi Srinakarin – Rom Klao 19. Inspired by the flowers that naturally grow on-site, the café artfully balances openness and enclosure, creating a conversation between nature and architecture.

Boasting a unique architectural structure, this cute little spot is described by its designers as “a blooming flower” amid the city’s industrial landscape — with its façade quite literally resembling a floral form. The design simplifies a flower’s radial symmetry into a geometric language, expanding from a singular point and evolving into a structured yet fluid architectural form, with natural curves refined into rhythmic sunburst lines and radial formations.

The outer boundary follows a squared framework, creating a sense of definition within the open landscape. In contrast, the café’s subtractive design approach carves out spaces to define movement, with pathways that intertwine with green pockets, allowing architecture and nature to coexist seamlessly.
