To celebrate Yoshida & Co.’s 90th anniversary, PORTER has partnered with military flight jacket specialists Buzz Rickson’s for a functional revamp of the classic MA-1 bomber jacket. Crafted using the Tanker series’ innovative 100% plant-based nylon, the collaboration merges Buzz Rickson’s meticulous preservation of aviation history with PORTER’s renowned functional expertise.
The jacket adopts a modernized, slimmer and slightly longer silhouette tailored for contemporary styling. Functionality is enhanced by gusset-expansion zippers on the sleeves, allowing for a relaxed fit even when layering thick garments. Additionally, the dual front closure, featuring both a zipper and snap buttons, enables the wearer to easily adjust the jacket’s volume. For superior warmth without added bulk, the piece is insulated with 3M Thinsulate™ high-performance padding.
A standout feature is the replacement of the standard utility pocket on the left sleeve with a detachable PORTER wallet, which includes dedicated coin and bill compartments for standalone use. The interior is equally unique, featuring a randomized traveling map lining and an integrated strap for convenient over-the-shoulder carrying when the jacket is not in use.
The collection is available in four colorways: Sage Green, Black, Iron Blue and a limited-edition Coyote colorway that showcases the nylon’s signature sheen. Priced at ¥143,000 JPY (approx. $910 USD), the Buzz Rickson’s x PORTER MA-1 will be released on December 24 at select PORTER flagship stores and the official Yoshida & Co. webstore.
