american football, the beloved Midwest indie band, has joined forces with OTW by Vans to unveil an Authentic 44 sneaker. This exclusive collaboration features the cover art from their influential 1999 self-titled debut album, affectionately known as LP1.

The band, which originally formed in 1997, has spent the last two years commemorating the 25th Anniversary of LP1’s genre-defining success with a sold-out global tour. Central to the album’s legacy is the white suburban house featured on its cover, which has become a landmark for fans, even being labeled a “place of worship” on Google Maps. The house, a physical representation of the album’s melancholy, became so iconic that fans made pilgrimages just to recreate the cover shot.

In a move to safeguard the musical landmark, the band, their record label Polyvinyl, and others purchased the property at 704 W. High Street in Urbana, Illinois, in May 2023. To celebrate this era, OTW by Vans and american football hosted an american football House(Warming) Party at the famed Urbana location. The intimate event was a Backyard BBQ style Skate Jam, honoring the local DIY skate scene and suburban roots that fostered the band.
