Portable gaming console maker Ayaneo made waves with its lightweight Ayaneo Air when it launched in 2020. The brand went to put out an even thinner Pro version, along with a few others.

The newest addition to the handheld lineup is called the Kun. Featuring an 8.4-inch (213 mm) screen, the Kun packs a lot of technology in for such a compact device. The screen is IPS (in-plane switching, a type of LCD monitor that features liquid crystals between two panes of glass for a brighter, saturated look. It also has 1600p resolution, a step up from the comparably lower rates of other handhelds on the market.

Among the other features of the Kun are a floating D-pad, face recognition, an optimized grip and four dual speakers.

Powered by AMD Ryzen 7840U, Ayaneo bills the Kun as the ideal device for FPS AAA gaming. While it boasts quality performance, where it may fall short is its 75Wh battery life. Ayaneo says that on its highest settings, the Kun is expected to run for 49 minutes on a single charge. Heat dissipation tech helps it from overheating but users’ best bet is to extend its lifespan to around three hours by opting for lower settings.

Ayaneo is still working on bringing the Kun to life with a campaign on Indiegogo. Models are expected to start at $999 USD for early birds, with additional options available down the line for those who want more storage.

In other gaming news, 21 Savage is joining Call of Duty soon.
