Brain Dead Reconnects With Modernica for Side Shell Eiffel Chairs
Arriving alongside matching side tables.
Following a collaboration with Rapha for a technical mountain bike series, Brain Dead continues to stay on its toes, revealing a new capsule with family-operated furniture maker Modernica.
Priding itself on its role in revitalizing the almost-lost art of high-pressure fiberglass molding, Modernica is best known for its iconic Fiberglass chairs conceived by Charles and Ray Eames back in 1948 as an entry to the MoMA International Design Competition. All Modernica chairs made today utilize the original presses and equipment bought from Zenith Plastics, delivering tried-and-true products that are lightweight, robust, and easy to maintain.
Thanks in part to modern printing methods, the company has turned the chairs into an empty canvas for contemporary brands, artists, and cultural figures including Keith Haring, Jean-Michel Basquiat, BAPE, and many more.
The upcoming series with Brain Dead includes two Side Shell Eiffel Chairs. One is found in a black-and-white head logo design with a matching side table and the other is featured in a psychedelic flower print with metallic silver legs. The duo has collaborated once before in the past for a Headcase coffee table.
Look for the Modernica x Brain Dead to release on Tuesday, February 21 via Brain Dead.
