Seiko has added three new timepieces to its Seiko 5 Sports collection. The Japanese watchmaker finds new inspiration in the vintage componentry of the first-ever Seiko 5 Sports watch, originally debuted in 1968. Three new iterations, SRPK11K1, SRPK13K1 and SRPK09K1, are vibrantly updated with modern color accents. As the brand dialogues with its legacy, past, present and future interpretations of the SKX Sports Style breathe new life into the collection’s heritage design.

Though the Seiko 5 Sports relaunched in 2019, the retro color collection reinterprets the vintage attributes engrained in the series from the ‘60s onward. These are retro-inspired timepieces imbued with a youthful spirit — playful yet sophisticated and intentional in their stylistic deviations. The SRPK11K1, SRPK13K1 and SRPK09K1 — featured in the campaign lookbook — are modernized with a case design measuring 42.5mm wide and 13.4mm thick. The SRPK11K1, in particular, stands out from the crowd with a punchy orange dial. By contrast, the SRPK13K1 showcases hits of blue, green, red and white to play off its silver bezel, watch case, lugs and strap. The monochromatic SRPK09K1 is the most refined of the lot; a subtle combination of silver and black accents checkered along the bezel, dial, hour markers, minute tracks and hands retain the traditional look and feel of its predecessors from the 1960s.

From a mechanical standpoint, the watches are powered by caliber 4R36, and Seiko loyalists will find familiar functionality in an unidirectional bezel and a crown at 4 o’clock. The wrist pieces also feature 10 bar water resistance and LumiBrite readability at the hands, indexes and bezel.

In the lookbook above, fall-ready apparel expresses the modern air of the collection: oversized outerwear and tailored layering pieces, like cream turtlenecks and workwear-inspired button-ups paired alongside distressed denim and streamlined trousers.
